A well- formulated and well-written chemistry lab report will surely impress your professor. If you really don’t know how to write it in an effective manner, then you should learn all the essentials of effective writing. So, for your convenience, let’s have a look at the following points:

1.    First of all, make a title page. State the name of your experiment, your name, your lab partners’ name, your instructor’s name and the date of experiment. Keep your experiment name clear and concise by stating the purpose of your experiment only.

2.    Now, begin writing introduction. Give a brief explanation about the purpose of your experiment and the expected outcome. Also, provide background information of your subject and the details of the respective procedure and the experiment. Make an effective hypothesis about the expected outcome and describe why you have a strong believe on its happening.

3.   In material section, list all the equipments you used while performing your experiment. Also, state the names of all the chemicals used with the possible hazards and relevant properties of these chemicals.

4.    Write procedure in the past tense by defining how you performed the experiment. Be concise at this point but provide a plausible room for other researchers to replicate your experiment.

5.    State the data of your experiment.  It contains anything you observed or collected while conducting the course of your experiment. Add tables in order to provide the details of the appropriate amounts of all the reagents used in the entire process. Also, mention the amounts produced for better understanding.

6.    Results section should have all the calculations you performed for the interpretation of the data. It is not essential to provide the details of all the work. Just show a single example of each calculation. Explain if the respective data supports the hypothesis. If the answer is negative, state the difference in results from the expected outcomes. Also, give suggestions which thing could be improved for better results.

7.    Summarise the results of your lab report in a concluding paragraph. Just keep it to one or two sentences.

8.    At last, assemble references section by providing the details of the used sources.

So, here are some points to remember while writing chemistry lab reports. Just follow these guidelines and create an extremely effective work piece in no time.
