The new national reading and numeracy tests which will be held from 8th to 22nd May will reinstate the commercially fabricated tests formerly used the schools.
The tests are established to evaluate learner’s development and further progress. Also, the teachers get a clearer view to identify strengths and weaknesses of the students. This identification helps detecting the areas for improvement and to reconcile at the earlier stage if students are unable to meet the settled standards.
The reading test is all about a statutory core test along with a set of non-compulsory test materials. This helps teachers to inquire learner’s strengths and weaknesses.
The numeracy test will be divided into two different papers: numerical reasoning and numerical procedures. The numerical procedural paper will include a set of questions that are especially designed to analyse basic numeracy skills such as add, multiply and divide.
The numerical reasoning paper will be held on May 2014. This will examine the skills of learners by using the most successful set of procedures that helps finding a solution to their numeracy issues.
The tests are also provided with short and flexible sessions. Also, they will generate reports to the parents which will give clear information about their child’s skills and also provide them with a chance to raise any potential problems with the teachers.
